Doha: Movistar Inter overcame a late fightback from Al Rayyan to start their campaign at the 2016 Futsal Intercontinental Cup with a 2-1 victory over Al Rayyan at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Stadium in Doha, yesterday.
The Spanish club rode on a goal each from two periods to overcome the hosts though despite the loss the spirited Qatari side, displayed the plenty of skills for a possible positive outcome in the event.
After exchange of attacks from both the sides, Movistar Inter broke the deadlock, two minutes before the halftime through Borja who scored from a close range. The home side made various attempts to equalise the score in the second period with an attacking show but that paved the way for Movistar’s Darlan to score second goal for his team in the 32nd minute of the match.
Al Rayyan gave the Spanish club a scare when Thiago Grippi scored in the penultimate minute that prompted a couple of more attacks from the home side. But, Movistar did well to contain the score-line and walk away with the winning points.
