Kabul: At least 49 militants were killed in joint operations by Afghan forces and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) across the country in the past 24 hours. The Interior Ministry said yesterday Afghan forces and ISAF carried out operations in Helmand, Farah, Hirat, Logar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Kandahar, Balkh, Badkhstan, Kunduz, Badghis and Nangarhar provinces. Security forces injured eight rebels, arrested 11 and seized large quantities of heavy and light weapons. The ministry did not say if there were any casualties in the security forces.
Pakistan, UK to fight terror
Islamabad: Pakistan and Britain agreed yesterday to continue cooperation to fight terrorism. It came during a meeting between Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and his British counterpart Theresa May, according to Geo News. Sources said matters relating to the situation emanating after the withdrawal of the allied forces from Afghanistan were also discussed. Khan expressed Pakistan’s resolve to wipe out terrorism and said an effective strategy was being formulated.
