MUMBAI: South Africa captain AB de Villiers won the toss and elected to bat in the series-deciding fifth one-day international against India in Mumbai on Sunday.
The five-match series is locked at 2-2 after hosts India defeated the tourists by 35 runs in Chennai on Thursday to set up a thrilling finale at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
India kept the same side which won the fourth ODI while South Africa made two changes, with Dean Elgar and Kyle Abbott replacing paceman Chris Morris and left-arm spinner Aaron Phangiso.
The Proteas remained without all-rounder JP Duminy and fast bowler Morne Morkel, who are both injured.
The one-day series will be followed by four Test matches. South Africa won the earlier Twenty20 series 2-0.
