DOHA: Forty-five artworks by 37 Qatari and other Arab artists are on display at the Artistic Panorama exhibition at Katara Building 19.
The expo, which runs until February 25, features artworks from the collection of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage.
They represent some of the most prominent Qatari artists, including Yousef Ahmad, Faraj Daham, Suleiman Al Malik, Hassan Al Mullah, Modi Al Hajri and Amal Al Aathem and from the region such as Farouk Hosni (Egypt) Walid Rashid (Iraq), Musa Omar (Oman), Kamal Balatah (Palestine) and Islam Kamil Ali (Sudan).
Dr Khalid Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager, Katara, launched the expo and said it provides a chance for the public to see paintings and other creations by Qatari and Arab artists.
The diversity of artistic visions presented by some of the most recognisable names in Qatar’s artistic landscape makes the expo a rich panorama of art, he added.
“We are keen to encourage everything that enriches art and culture in Qatar and for this reason we are hosting the expo as visual art is influential and reflects reality,” he said.
“We are pleased to have good names from Qatar and some Arab countries in the expo in line with Katara’s mission to create communication between peoples and cultures.”
Hanadi Al Darwish, Head, Visual Arts Section, Katara, said artworks by famous Qatari and Arab artists are from the ministry’s collection which serves as a documentation of artistic experiences in Qatar and other Arab countries.
“While selecting art pieces we were keen to reflect the different stages, the variety of subjects and the historical development of the generations of artists,” she added.
