DOHA: The Annual General Members’ Assembly of the Dutch Business Council Qatar (DBCQ) took place on February 23 at the residence of the Ambassador of The Netherlands, Yvette Burghgraef - van Eechoud.
During the assembly, a new Executive Board was elected. Cees van Amelsfoort stepped down as Chairman and Henk Jan Hoogendoorn was elected as the new Chairman of the DBCQ Executive Board.
Julia Dobrea, Stephanie Bol, Yoeri van Rumund, Matthijs Westra and Taco Engelaar were also appointed as members of the Executive Board.
The strong collaboration between the Dutch Business Council Qatar and the Embassy was highlighted during the meeting, with a series of successful visits and presentations organised last year; such as a productive visit to the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) with discussions on the progress made on the SC workers’ welfare standards, and the participation of DBCQ in the regional economic conference organised by the Embassy for the economic departments at the embassies of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in the Gulf region.
Another major achievement of last year was the official registration of the Dutch Business Council Qatar under the Qatar Financial Centre regulation, as a limited liability company with guarantee - DBCQ LLC (G). The Dutch Business Council Qatar is one of the first in the country to make use of this new registration form.
Over the last years, the relations between Qatar and The Netherlands have matured and broadened.
From a primarily energy driven co-operation it has evolved to the various sectors that underpin Qatar’s Vision 2030 for the diversification of its economy.
It is in that drive for diversification that the synergies between the two countries emerge: small nations with abundant gas reserves that foster a vibrant and open economy beyond the finite fossil wealth. Creating international hubs and flows where goods, services and people meet.
Experiencing an increase in diversity of Dutch companies and affiliates operating in Qatar, the Dutch Business Council Qatar can add value as a platform to their activities by supporting new arrivals, networking through its members and sharing information.
The Dutch Business Council Qatar facilitates and promotes the interests of its member stakeholders, such as Dutch professionals in Qatar (resident and non-resident), Qatari nationals with general or business interests in The Netherlands, Dutch companies in Qatar and new Dutch entrepreneurs in Qatar.
DBCQ is supported by the Embassy of The Netherlands to Qatar and has at present 100 members. The Peninsula
