Dhaka: Sri Lanka beat qualifiers the UAE by 14 runs in their first match in the Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament in Dhaka on Thursday.

A spirited UAE attack restricted Sri Lanka to a below-par 129-8 but their batsmen found the Sri Lankan bowlers too hot to handle before they were finally reduced to 115-9.

Skipper Lasith Malinga claimed 4-26 for Sri Lanka while Nuwan Kulasekara picked up 3-10.
