Advisory Council discusses budget allocations

DOHA: The Advisory Council yesterday discussed the allocations proposed for key infrastructure sectors in the budgetary estimates for the new fiscal year (2013-14) and forwarded its recommendations to the State Cabinet, clearing the deck for the budget to be unveiled soon as the new financial year begins from April 1.

The Council had earlier referred the public spending estimates for the new fiscal year in the draft budget which it had received from the State Cabinet, to its economic and financial committee.

The Council at its meeting yesterday discussed the report of the committee on the allocations in the draft budget and decided to refer its recommendations to the Cabinet.

The Minister of Economy and Finance, H E  Yousuf Hussein Kamal, the Under-secretary at the Ministry, Khalaf bin Ahmed Al Mannai, Director of the General Budget Department at the Ministry, Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani, and head of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Nasser Ali Mawlawi, attended the meeting. 

The Council’s Speaker praised the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani for his directives and due attention accorded to the sectors of education, health, housing, infrastructure and energy through providing the necessary financial allocations. 

‘’This all derives from H H the Emir’s keenness on the welfare of the homeland and the interests of the citizens and exerting whatever necessary to realise the aspirations of the Qatari citizens for better future to our beloved country,”  Mubarak Al Khulaifi said.

The Speaker welcomed Kamal and others and explained the government’s viewpoint as regard the major projects of the state’s draft budget of the fiscal year 2013/2014 and making the necessary clarifications.

Kamal explained the viewpoint of the government on the draft budget. 

Later, the Council discussed a report submitted by the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee on the draft budget and decided to refer its recommendations to the Cabinet, Qatar News Agency reported.
