Many of these tourism partners are represented on our stand at GIBTM as a tangible reminder of Qatar’s successful tourism drive and expansion,” said Abdullah Al Badr, QTA’s Director of Tourism.
A regional hub for events, conferences and exhibitions, Qatar has huge number of its visitors coming for business, and is targeting an increase in the number of visitors over the next five years.
Qatar has also begun to develop local talent in the MICE sector, with the introduction of new hospitality training programmes at Stenden University and Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI) as tourism is the fastest growing sector in the country. Al Badr added: “Qatar is getting a reputation as one of the latest new destinations for upscale meeting organizers with its capacity to stage large-scale international events and trade fairs.”
“Our new tourism strategy is to diversify and enhance the range of tourism facilities for business stopovers as well as hotel accommodation across Qatar, focusing sharply on maintaining quality development to attract business visitors. Our main focus at GIBTM is to meet new event partners to whom we can offer existing and new venues such as sports amenities, and convention, exhibition and meeting facilities to expand and attract MICE sector business.”
GIBTM is the leading event for the meetings, incentives and business travel industry in the GCC Region.
