Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality opened three new public parks in Al Wakrah and Al Wukair as part of its efforts to expand green spaces, improve quality of life and provide sustainable recreational facilities for residents.
The new facilities include Al Mashmoum Park and Al Khuzama Park in Al Wakrah, and Al Arak Park in Al Wukair.
They were developed by the Ministry's Public Parks Department, in coordination with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), according to international standards.
The three parks were named Al Mashmoum, Al Khuzama and Al Arak after plants associated with the local environment, reflecting efforts to reinforce Qatari identity and preserve the country's environmental and cultural heritage.
Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality, said the new parks form part of the Ministry's continuing efforts to improve public services and facilities and expand the development of parks and recreational spaces across the country.
He said the parks were designed according to residents' needs, providing green spaces and facilities for recreation, exercise and relaxation while encouraging healthier lifestyles and outdoor physical activity.
Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sada, Director of the Public Parks Department at the Ministry, said the new facilities are neighbourhood parks designed to provide essential services, including sports facilities, walking and jogging tracks, children's play areas and restrooms.
Al Mashmoum Park covers a total area of 4,394 square metres, including 2,396sqm of landscaped areas with 68 trees. It features 927sqm of pedestrian paths, a 204-metre jogging track, a 232sqm children's playground and a 45sqm outdoor fitness area, in addition to restrooms and seating areas.
Al Khuzama Park spans 3,284sqm, including 1,376sqm of green areas with 59 trees. It also features 900sqm of pedestrian paths, a 178-metre jogging track, a 276sqm children's play area and a 32sqm outdoor fitness area equipped with modern exercise equipment.
Meanwhile, Al Arak Park in Al Wukair covers 3,936sqm, including 2,126sqm of green areas with 56 trees. The park features 844sqm of pedestrian paths, a 164-metre jogging track, a 222sqm children's play area and a 46sqm outdoor fitness area, along with restrooms and seating facilities.
The Ministry said the three projects support its 2024–2030 Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030 by expanding green spaces, enhancing the attractiveness of residential areas, supporting environmental sustainability and providing recreational destinations for families and communities.
