Doha: Aspire Academy signed a collaboration and partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Qatar Anti –Doping Commission (QADC).
Ali Salem Afifa, Deputy Director General of Aspire Academy, and Dr Nasser Ali Al Ansari, Chairman of QADC, signed the agreement in the presence of representatives from both organisations.
Commenting on signing the agreement, Ali Salem Afifa said: “We aim through this MoU to build a collaborative anti-doping framework, building on the commission’s workshops with our student-athletes and faculty on the topic, which we hope to expand to the wider sports community through this agreement. We are delighted to be taking this step with the QADC, as it demonstrates our conscious efforts to educate all athletes partaking in international sports events on the dangers of doping and the efforts made by the global community towards fighting it”.
Dr. Nasser Ali Al Ansari said: “The Commission is mandated to carry out two main objectives: firstly, monitoring for doping according to World Anti-Doping Agency standards and procedures; secondly, increasing awareness of doping in the sports community. We have been executing these objectives for several years with athletes, coaches, doctors, physiotherapists and medical teams. Currently, there is an ambition to increase awareness of the dangers and consequences of doping among youth and students in an effort to instil understanding of the topic early on. This agreement helps us achieve that”.
The MOU aims to promote cooperation between Aspire Academy and the QADC by establishing a framework for collaboration.
