DPS-Modern Indian School successfully hosted yet another international online debate against Team Qatar, beating the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic
The motion was ‘This House Believes That developing countries should prioritize import substitution industrialization over export-oriented industrialization’; it was a motion from the upcoming World School Debating Championship. The debaters took it as an impromptu one which was given to them on the spot before one hour to prepare.
Victoria Honoridez, Gauri Gupta and Atharv Bhatt from DPS-Modern Indian School stood as team Proposition; whereas Sara Al Maadeed, Moza Alhajri and Alreem Al Aqaily from Team Qatar as team Opposition. It was a great opportunity for the debaters to sharpen their knowledge of economics and showcase their debate and persuasion skills.
The debate was chaired by Sandra Ramachandran an alumnus, and supported by Jaefar Shameem, Arya Kannade, Sparsh Choudhary, Drishti Tiberwal. After a heated debate, the evening ended with a unanimous decision of giving the win to the team opposition. It was an enriching debate that helped the teams chisel their argumentative and analytical skills.
