DOHA: The health monitoring unit of Al Rayyan Municipality has shut down two outlets and another one partially for a month for violating provisions of health rules and has detected 715 violations during the first 10 days of Ramadan.
Expired foodstuff was detected at 11 outlets and they were booked according to law No. 8 of 1990 and may be closed down temporarily by a decision of the director of the municipality. The erring outlets are eateries and bakeries that were given temporary licences to operate during Ramadan to sell fried food items like kabab, samosa and kanafa, among others.
Samples of Garangao material were taken from 20 outlets and were sent to the Central Laboratory for checks.
Civic inspectors made 286 inspections on food outlets in Al Rayyan Municipality and detected 715 violations of health rules, Al Raya reported yesterday.
The violations include expired health certificates of workers, lack of personal hygiene, equipment and premises were found dirty. In addition, foodstuff were not stored properly, while some of them were expired, said the daily.
The Municipality received 10 complaints for which they responded immediately.
Veterinarians who are part of the inspection team of health monitoring unit, have destroyed four slaughtered sheep. The sheep were found infected and unfit for consumption and, 1,500kg of rotten processed meet were also destroyed. The Peninsula
