Children during Garangao celebrations organised by Qatar Airways and Doha International Airport.
DOHA: Around 400 children enjoyed an exciting equestrian, educational and entertaining experience at the Garangao night organised by Al Shaqab on Wednesday.
Al Shaqab staff presented the children with vouchers for their pony ride and special Al Garangao gifts.
The children enjoyed games including ‘Musical Chairs’, ‘Tug of War Game’, a ‘Ball Game’ and ‘Al Dahroa’, which is a popular wheel game. They were also served traditional and popular dishes.
Ten horses were provided for the riding session for children aged three to 12, which lasted from 9pm till midnight.
“Al Shaqab by organising such events, maintains the heritage and keeps alive the link between grandparents, parents and children for their favourite activity. This concept is not new to us as It is part of the main core of Al Sshaqab’s objective to revive heritage and make sure it transcends into future generations,” said Al Shaqab Director Fahad Al Qahtani.
Another Garangao event was hosted by Qatar Airways and Doha International Airport on Wednesday with special needs youth from the Shafallah Centre.
It was organised by the Ministry of Interior and sponsored by DIA. Colourful lantern packages, prepared by the Shafallah youth, were presented to children at the event.

On display were exhibits by local Qatari families, who were showcasing their products as part of Qatari heritage.
The Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) Community Outreach Programme (COP) set up an interactive booth where families from in and around Al Thakhira enjoyed the festivities.
“The whole idea behind the event was to revive the community spirit and get people in a cheerful frame of mind for Garangao night and teach our children the importance of sharing and generosity,” said Ali Lahdan Al Mohannadi, Director of Al Thakhira Youth Center.
“We are thrilled that more than 700 people from the community joined in the celebrations at Al Thakhira Youth Center,” Al Mohannadi said.
