DOHA: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is launching a regional campaign to promote Qatar as the Eid destination in the region in preparation for the coming Eid Festival.

“We are going to launch a regional campaign on Sunday across all platforms including television, radio, online and outdoor advertisement,” said Hend Zainal, Director for Marketing and Public Relations at QTA.

For the second edition of the festival, QTA has prepared more events to provide residents and tourists a fun-filled experience this coming Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha.

Activities at the Lusail shooting range and paragliding are among the new events that were added to enhance this year’s Eid celebration, Zainal told the local media.

A number of travel packages would also be launched to attract more tourists from neighbouring countries for the Eid celebration.

The packages, especially for Eid, will be a combination of air ticket, hotel and tours in cooperation with Qatar Airways, hotels and travel agencies.

The campaign will cover all GCC countries with focus on Saudi Arabia, which is a big market for Qatar’s sector as a big chunk of tourist arrivals come from the Kingdom.

Malls including City Center, Al Khor Mall, Lagoona, Hyatt Plaza, Landmark and Villaggio in addition to Doha Exhibition Centre and Heritage Village will be filled with free live entertainment from acrobats, mascots, musicians and a variety of performers from Qatar and the region.

The festival, which caters to all ages, will open on the first day of Eid Al Fitr in shopping centres, Doha Exhibition Center (DEC), Souq Waqif, Katara and other locations outside Doha such as Aqua Park, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum and Al Dosari Garden. While some events would run for 10 days, others would last for 35 days.

The main highlight of the activities is the Entertainment City which will open from the first day of Eid Al Fitr till September 15 at a 15,000sqm area at DEC.

A variety of events and activities will be held at the air-conditioned area including theatre shows and games for children, in which prizes will be at stake for winners and participants.

There will be play areas for children as well as places where they can draw, read, and paint.

Rides will also be available at the venue with minimum of QR5, QR10 and QR15 in addition to restaurants which will offer food at fair prices.

A total of 150 shops selling household items, clothes, perfumes, toys and accessories coming from Qatar, China, Egypt, Syria, Morocco and Turkey among others could be found at the Entertainment City.
