Doha: Commercial Bank has launched second ‘Young Bankers’ summer internship programme ‘Saving for the Future’ to instil the culture of saving among the younger generation and guide customers to take a responsible approach to systematic saving.
The programme for students aged 14-18 focuses on providing them with real-life work experience at the bank’s branches.
It began with a two-day workshop to train students and ensure they have in-depth and practical working knowledge of the bank’s banking channels. Young bankers were trained on benefits of the bank’s saving products.
Savings products continue to be a key business priority for the bank and young bankers are at many of the bank’s retail branches, guiding customers to save for future.
The programme will help young bankers acquire knowledge about benefits of saving in a real time customer-facing environment, under the guidance of professional staff.
This year, the bank received overwhelming interest from parents and participants and inducted over 100 interns for the programme for two months.
Abdulla Saleh Al Raisi, CEO, said: “The summer internship is our another initiative that benefits the community, as we believe that financial education is vital for the younger generation — it empowers them to take control of their personal finances and make sensible decisions on how to save and invest extra income in a socially responsible way. Savings is an essential part of planning for the future, and I am delighted that our young bankers are taking the first step in this direction.”
Reham Sabri Thawabi, AGM, Head, Retail Branches, said: “The bank provides savings products to help customers take a proactive and responsible approach to saving. Young bankers are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, such as iPads, to show our customers how simple changes in terms of how they manage money can help grow their savings faster at no extra risk. The eagerness and enthusiasm shown by young bankers, coupled with the bank’s savings products, will help our customers save better for the future.” The Peninsula
