BAGHDAD: Iraq issued a tender on Monday to buy a minimum of 50,000 tonnes of wheat from the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, Romania, Kazakhstan or Germany, sources at the Iraqi trade ministry said.
The tender is open until Dec. 3 and offers must be valid until Dec. 7, the sources said.
In its last reported tender on Nov. 5, Iraq bought a total of 350,000 tonnes of wheat from Australia, Russia and Canada.
Volumes in Iraq's grain tenders are regarded as nominal and it frequently buys more than the tender volumes.
Iraq is one of the world's largest importers of wheat, much of which goes to supply a massive national food ration programme. (Reuters)
