Doha: Visitors and football fans at Katara lived up to an exceptional evening of thrill and delight sparked by the legendary and historical victory of Saudi Arabia team over Argentina at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Tuesday.
The Omani Folklore Troupe participating at the Katara Traditional Dhow Festival regaled audiences celebrating the joy of reviving artistic paintings embodying the nobility and beauty of Omani folk arts and heritage.
The festival’s audience enjoyed the band’s performance, which was marked by a mix of singing and dancing intertwined with drums in a heritage atmosphere full of beauty, joy and pleasure. It presented authentic performances reflecting the richness of the Gulf and Omani maritime history and the lyrical heritage.
On the other hand, the activities of Katara accompanying the World Cup witnessed an increasing turnout of visitors, fans and guests, as the Cultural Village Foundation — Katara continued to launch its cultural activities and artistic and heritage shows amid the brilliance of marine heritage on Katara Beach which is hosting the 12th edition of the Katara Traditional Dhow Festival.
The Dhow Festival recorded the visits of a number of dignitaries and witnessed the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, H E Bisera Turković.
Katara events and exhibitions are witnessing a great turnout of different nationalities. The calligraphers’ booths located behind Building 5 attract a large number of visitors of Arab and foreign nationalities. Artists are drawing paintings with the names of visitors in various types of Arabic calligraphy in addition to sand paintings.
Calligrapher Muhammad Ibrahim said: “I present various paintings and different works according to people’s request and focus on the use of black and white colours, and we hope that our participation in these events will be an opportunity to know Arabic calligraphy, which is one of the most prominent characteristics Arab-Islamic culture and Identity.”
The henna corner at the square opposite the Katara main fountain witnessed a great turnout by visitors as well, especially foreign nationalities, and they expressed their happiness to go through the delightful experience, expressing their interest in learning about the Arab culture and heritage in all its details.
The corridors of Katara also witnessed groups of fans of different nationalities, each group carrying the flag of their country, chanting enthusiastic slogans.
On the other hand, children enjoyed the activities of the Katara Library for Arabic Novel (courtyard of Building No. 47), where they enjoy practicing drawing, colouring and handcraft activities supervised by specialists in dealing with children.
In addition to following up on beautiful performances by a group of children on the waterfront from the Ministry of Social Development and Family. As part of the street arts activities, the audience interacted with oriental music performed by one of the Arab bands.
The courtyard of Building 39 witnessed a large presence of Tunisian fans who watched musical and lyrical performances by Tunisian artists as part of the Tunisian Cultural Days event, which contains different pavilions that present various Tunisian products — food and sweets, traditional Tunisian clothing and industries.
The fountain at Al Hikma Square attracted Katara visitors, as shows were presented that combined music and dancing water with the reflection of lights on the surrounding Katara buildings and the dazzling of fireworks.
The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, will continue with its activities accompanying the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 until December 18.
