The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply has launched its formal branch in Qatar and held its first Annual General Meeting at which Executive Committee Members were elected.
The launch of the formal branch follows a two years existence as an informal members’ group in Qatar.
In collaboration with CIPS’ regional office in Dubai, the members’ group was also instrumental in successfully hosting the 2nd CIPS Middle East Conference on May 6, 2012, at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
The CIPS Qatar Branch committed members for 2013 are: Chair: Adil Mohammad - Qatar Shell, Vice-Chair: Mike Anwana - RasGas, Treasurer: Raul Aliyev - RasGas, Social Media Officer: Naveen Aggarwal - RasGas, Communications Officer: Shailendra Chouhan - RasGas, Education Liaison Representative: Andrew Roy - Ernst & Young, Events Officer: Peter Edy - Commercial and Contract Management professional, Committee Affairs: Rao Srinavas - Qatar Airways, Joint Secretary: Dhirendra Panday - RasGas, and Joint Secretary: Dora Escobar - Qatar Shell.
After the AGM, Raju Patel, lecturer and writer on strategy, undertook a training for 100 delegates.
CIPS is an 80 years old, not-for-profit organization registered in the UK, and exists to promote and develop high standards of professional skills, ability and integrity among all those engaged in purchasing and supply chain management. Currently there are many companies in Qatar who have received accreditation from CIPS for their procurement processes. CIPS also provides professional accreditation.
