Doha: MES Indian School commemorated the 73rd Republic Day of India on the virtual mode with traditional gaiety under the national theme ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav’. 

The Chief Guest, K. Abdul Karim, President of MES Governing Board, hoisted the Indian national flag followed by the national anthem.

“The supreme sacrifices of the freedom fighters and their greater ideals for the welfare of India should be understood and realised for the betterment of the motherland,’ remarked the Chief Guest while addressing the gathering. 

Speaking on the occasion, the School Principal Hameeda Kadar urged the representatives of the younger generation of the nation to take up a more proactive and productive role in ensuring the unity and prosperity of the nation and foster a sense of belonging which will take a nation to a greater pedestal in the international arena.  

A video presentation showcasing the glimpses of the historical events that led to the attainment of India’s republic status and the highlights of the activities organized in connection with the Republic Day celebrations was one of the attractions. 

An eye-catching thematic programme was presented by the Kindergarten kids titled, ‘Proud to be an Indian, in which children attired in traditional costumes portraying the freedom fighters and great leaders of India and conveying the message that everyone should be proud to be an Indian for reasons that India is incredible with rich cultural heritage, secularism, festivals, cuisines, yoga etc. 

Splendid patriotic songs by the school choir and the elegant dance performances titled ‘My Nation My Spirit’ by the students of Boys’, Girls’ and Junior Sections, depicting the cultural integrity and heritage of the nation kindled the patriotic fervour and zest of the audience. 

Members of the school management, officials, teachers and students witnessed the day’s programme. Rizwa Fathima welcomed the gathering and RGSRL Pushyami proposed a vote of thanks. The ICT department lent technical support for the smooth conduct of the event. Anver K, Cultural Coordinator of the school, coordinated the event.
