Dreama organises workshop to support rights of child

Doha: The Orphan Care Center, ‘Dreama’, has organised the second training workshop for the department managers and social service and care providers under the title “Mechanism of the Work of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child” in collaboration with the Geneva Institute for Human Rights. 

Dr. Nizar Abdulqadir and Dr. Kholoud Al Khateeb delivered the second workshop which aimed to enable and promote the capabilities of the Center’s staff in respect of how to draft reports to the committee on the rights of the child and identify the role of the non-government organizations (NGOs) in respect of submitting reports and providing information.

The training workshop addressed the rights of the child from several pivots including the international conventions, organizations established in line with the conventions, signing and approving Qatar’s joining of the key conventions of human rights, focus on the directive principles recognised by the committee on the rights of the child and relying on these agreements in drafting reports and shedding light on the information which should be part of the content of the report to be submitted to the committee on the rights of the child. 

Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, Executive Director of the Orphan Care Center, noted that the organisation of the second workshop came as part of Dreama Center’s continuous efforts to promote services which the Center offers to the orphan children within the framework of the joint cooperation between Dreama Center and the Geneva Institute for Human Rights.

For his part, Dr. Nizar Abdulqadir, Executive Director of the Geneva Institute for Human Rights, pointed out to the importance of the workshop in introducing the international conventions for human rights further praising the Dreama Center’s commitment to promote and protect the rights of the child through certain measures necessary for enhancing the level of the services and care provided to children.
