DOHA: Domestic violence is on the rise in the country, with the Qatar Foundation for Protection of Women and Children (QFPWC) receiving as many as 723 complaints last year. Of these, 258 complaints were from citizens and the remaining 465 cases were related to expatriates.
The Foundation has received more than 300 complaints on an average every year since its inception in 2004, taking the total number of cases until now to 2,707, Al Sharq reported yesterday. The Foundation has set up a hotline — 919 — to receive complaints related to violence against women and children.
It has opened offices at important places in a bid to make its services easily accessible to the public. The Peninsula
