Doha: In a significant environmental achievement that underscores Qatar’s commitment to sustainability, the veterinary quarantine facilities at Al Ruwais Port and near Hamad Port have been awarded the prestigious Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) 3-Star certification.

This recognition marks a major milestone in Qatar’s ongoing efforts to embed environmental sustainability across its development projects in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.

It also highlights the country’s commitment to advancing green infrastructure and sustainable practices.

The GSAS certification, the first integrated sustainability assessment system developed specifically for the MENA region, evaluates buildings and infrastructure projects based on rigorous environmental and performance standards.

It has previously been used to assess landmark developments such as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums and Lusail City.

The Ministry of Municipality emphasized that this achievement reflects its dedication to implementing the highest sustainability standards in the design, construction, and operation of veterinary facilities.

The GSAS 3-star rating ensures a healthy and safe environment, while enhancing operational efficiency in accordance with global best practices.

With this certification, Qatar’s veterinary quarantine facilities are further empowered to contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals and strengthen its environmental infrastructure.

The Ministry continues to expand and upgrade the operational capacity of these vital facilities as part of its broader strategy to enhance service infrastructure, ensure food security, and protect society from transboundary animal diseases.
