BAGHDAD: Twenty one elements of the Islamic State (IS) were killed in an air strike south of Tikrit, Salahuddin province.
A security source told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) "The air strike targeted a nest for the elements of the IS in Balad south of Tikrit, killing 21 terrorists and destroyed a number of vehicles."
Governor of Salah al-Din Raed al-Jubouri announced on Sunday the start of liberation operation of north of Tikrit and Bayji areas from the IS control.
He told NINA that forces from the Salah al-Din Operations Command and other military units take part in the operation with the support of the air force. (QNA)
