TOKYO: Japan's Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda will approve an US $10.7 Billion (880 Billion yen) emergency policy package Friday to boost the country's stagnant economy as the second stimulus package in two months, Kyodo news agency reported Tuesday quoting officials.
As it is highly unusual for a government to compile economic measures after dissolving the House of Representatives for a general election, the move is most likely to trigger criticism from opposition parties that Noda's Democratic Party of Japan is just trying to attract voters.
The government will finance the policy package with part of the 940 billion yen in remaining reserve funds under the fiscal 2012 budget and will not issue any new debt, the officials said. (QNA)
