DOHA: A nursery has installed CCTV cameras in all its rooms after an Asian female assistant taking care of children gagged a two-and-a-half-year-old boy by putting an adhesive tape on his mouth to stop him from crying.
The father of another child who happened to be at the nursery watched the boy in horror after he recognised him and called his father who immediately arrived at the nursery.
Nursery officials told the father of the child concerned that they had called in police.
The matter was reported to public prosecution, which is investigating, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday.
A complaint has also been filed with the Family Development Department at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, which is the licensing and supervisory authority for nurseries and crèches.
