Doha: Qatar Stars League (QSL) leaders Al Rayyan have lost just one match from the 15 they have played so far, their only loss coming against Al Sadd. Their impeccable record however will not stop Umm Salal from gunning for the Jorge Fossati’s team scalp as the two clash in the Round 16 match here today.
Umm Salal‘s Turkish coach Ulent Bugen has reiterated his sides desire to defeat Al Rayyan.
“Make no mistake our match against Al Rayyan is a tough fixture, you only have to look at the league table to know that,” Bugen said at a pre-match press conferencce.
An interesting sub-plot has developed in the tie due to the transfer of Umm Salal midfielder Fabio Cesar to Al Rayyan. Hovever, Bugen made clear that this shouldn’t change his side.
“Cesar is a very good player but we are not to be affected by the loss of one player. Umm Salal relies on the team work, something that we really focused on during our training camp.”
Al Rayyan coach Fossati was proud of his sides efforts in the break in QSL action.
“We took huge advantage of the QSL stoppage period worked according to the set training program including a four-day rest followed by training sessions twice a day we are fully prepared for our match,” the Uruguayan tactician said .
“Umm Salal are a difficult team, like any other side in the league. We will fight hard for the win,” he added.
