Roundtables on laws for expats today

DOHA: Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue, in collaboration with College of Law at Qatar University, will today organise round-table meetings with workers and expatriates communities at La Cigale Hotel in Doha.
The programme aims to enhance participants’ basic knowledge about Qatari laws and social and economic issues.
Experts will explain source of Qatari laws which are based on principles of Shariah and customary law and the process of implementation of laws.
Participants will be briefed on laws in simple language with  examples and will be questioned to ascertain what they have understood.
According to organisers, participants are expected to understand the relation of laws with religion and social values and laws in social, economic and political context of Qatar.
They will also be briefed on different types of crimes.
Five outlets shut over expired food
DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has closed five food outlets in Doha, Al Khor and Al Daayen for selling expired food unfit for human consumption and preparing food in unhealthy conditions.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Sayed, Director, Doha Municipality, issued a decision to shut down a branch of a fast food restaurant in Al Jisra for 30 days for preparing food in unhealthy conditions.
He also issued a decision to close down a restaurant-cum-cafe in Rawdat Al Khail for seven days for the same reason.
Zumah Al Miraikhi, Director,  Al Khor Municipality, issued a decision to shut down a restaurant for 30 days and a supermarket for selling expired food and the director of Al Daayen Municipality ordered the closure of a restaurant for 14 days for selling substandard food.
Online system for health practitioners
DOHA: Qatari Council for Health Practitioners has launched Electronic System (EP) to check the authenticity of documents of health practitioners through an accredited company, Al Sharq reports.
The company will verify documents of practitioners from their countries.
The council said the system aims to accelerate the process of checking documents of health practitioners who apply for license in Qatar.
The system allows health institutions to create accounts to keep in touch with contact persons at the council.
It also aims to increase the satisfaction level of clients by saving their time.
