New Delhi: The World Health Organisation (WHO) has reported three cases of Zika virus-associated birth defects in India, all from Bapunagar area.
The WHO said that two cases were detected in February and November last year, while a third case was detected in January this year.
The WHO added that here is a low level of transmission of the Zika virus in India, but it warned of further infections in the future and called on the Indian authorities to tighten procedures to detect similar symptoms similar caused by Zika.
Zika virus is an emerging virus transmitted by mosquitoes, which appeared in Brazil in 2015 before moving to other countries in the world.
