DOHA: Tents for the Souq Waqif Eid Al Fitr Festival will welcome hundreds of people to watch shows and take part in fun activities starting tomorrow.
Despite the cancellation of its annual musical shows as a show of solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, the festival organising committee has decided to go ahead with other events and activities.
Mohammad Al Salem, Director of Souq Waqif and member of the panel, said this year’s festival includes many programmes for children and adults.
“We tried to make this year’s events attractive for children and different from those last year,” he said, adding there will also be competitions.
“We will also distribute 15,000 gifts to children throughout the five-day festival, but the number may increase depending on the number of visitors,” he said.
Two big tents have been erected on Al Ahmad field in front of Gold Souq to host events and activities.
The circus tent, which has a capacity of 1,600 people, will show acts by international teams for five days.
The activities tent will include entertainment programmes and 12 games for children, including train, hoppers, horse ride, camel ride and skill games, among others.
Entry fee to the circus tent is QR50 (general) and QR100 (VIP) and QR20 for the activities tent.
Souq Waqif Art Centre will also host activities, including drawing and face painting.
