Qatar Museums unveils a month of cultural discovery this September

Doha, Qatar: This September, Qatar Museums presents a wide-ranging programme of cultural, educational, and creative activities for the community. From stargazing during a once-in-a-century lunar eclipse at the Museum of Islamic Art, to storytelling and family tours at the National Museum of Qatar, and dynamic workshops at Mathaf, M7, and Liwan, the month is filled with opportunities to learn, explore, and be inspired. Highlights also include Tasweer’s immersive photography lecture with Kamal Naji, archaeology-inspired workshops, and interactive sports debates at 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art presents workshops and training sessions ranging from portraiture with Ismail Azzam to creative fashion upcycling and public speaking skills.

How to Write a Public Speech

Art lessons with Ismail Azzam

Every Sunday & Tuesday throughout September 2025 | 4pm to 6pm

Participants will learn different portraiture techniques using various mediums, including pencil, charcoal and paint. The workshop aims to provide a stimulating atmosphere for developing artistic talent, sharing experiences and engaging in artistic discussion. Register here

Fashion Forward

Fashion Forward: Upcycling Style is a 7-month journey happening once a month at Mathaf Museum. In collaboration with Sustainability Week, teens will transform everyday materials into bold, wearable art—leading up to a final fashion show where they will showcase their unique designs. Register here

Lecture: A Tour in the Worlds of Photography with Kamal Naji

The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) offers rare and enriching experiences including a once-in-100-years total lunar eclipse viewing, family days, and creative workshops celebrating the beauty of nature in Islamic art.

Total Lunar Eclipse

A public astronomy event organised by the Museum of Islamic Art in collaboration with Qatar Calendar House. The programme includes live observation of the total lunar eclipse from MIA Park, along with interactive astronomy activities for the whole family. This rare astronomical phenomenon occurs only once every 100 years!

Sacred Gardens: The Plants of the Quran

In collaboration with the Quranic Botanic Garden, discover the plants mentioned in the Quran and their significance in Islamic culture, art and traditions. This programme identifies their symbolism, historical uses and artistic representations across centuries, in addition participants will gain insight into how these plants have been depicted in manuscripts, architecture and decorative arts, while also engaging in a creative activity inspired by nature’s beauty. 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (QOSM) inspires dialogue on sport and society through international conferences, debates, and family-friendly peace-themed activities.
