DOHA: Filipino workers in Qatar can now pursue further studies on master’s degree with the launch of Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme by well-respected universities from the Philippines.

Launched last July 12 by  the Philippine Christian University and Lyceum of the Philippines, the MBA programme aims to help Filipino workers who have the desire to pursue professional advancement and obtain their master’s degree without jeopardising their job.

The first batch of about 18 students from different disciplines met last July 13 to start their MBA studies. The programme was formally launched at the Philippine School Doha Gym through the assistance and support of Dr Alexander S Acosta, PSD School Principal and Ambassador to Qatar Crescente R Relacion.

“This really proved that the quest for professional advancement is within our reach if we still have the desire for it,” said one student. The launching was conducted by Dr Eduardo P Malagapo, Dean of the College of Business Administration & Accountancy and Graduate School of the Philippine Christian University and President, Philippine School Overseas Association of Principals and Teachers Middle East Chapter.

Lectures and sessions are regularly scheduled for two meetings in a month. The 18 students will have their course immersion at Harvard University sometime in June 2013.

Dr Malagapo hopes to produce the first batch of MA in Business Administration within one and half-year.

The MBA Programme held its orientation for the second batch yesterday at the PSD gym.
