ISLAMABAD: About three weeks have passed since the unanimously passed resolution at a Pakistan government-sponsored all parties’ conference (APC), but the government has failed to take a single step towards its implementation, the first recommendation of which is initiation of peace talks with the banned Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the majority faction among more than two dozen groups fighting security forces.
In between this period, three major incidents of terror have occurred which served as boom for the opponents of the dialogue who have mounted pressure on the government to instead of initiating dialogue with the TTP should launch a full throated military operation against the militant groups.
Despite the fact that the TTP which had readily accepted responsibility of the Upper Dir attack on a military convoy, killing three Pak Army soldiers, they dissociated from the Peshawar church twin blasts which killed more than 80 Christians last week, the pressure of a fresh operation rather than talking to militants is growing with every day.
Yesterday the bombing of a bus carrying civil servants killed 20.
The attack is suspected to have been carried out by the Taliban.
