Doha: Qatargas, the largest LNG producer in the world, has completed over 20 million man-hours across all of its assets and projects without a Lost Time Incident (LTI) — a significant milestone demonstrating the Company’s commitment to safe performance.
Acknowledging the significance of the occasion, Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatargas CEO, said: “Safety is a core value in Qatargas that we have embedded in all of our systems. Over the past few years, we have continuously improved our safety processes and programmes and introduced several initiatives aimed at ensuring the safety of our people and assets. This milestone however, was not achieved by these programmes alone. The dedication and expertise of our people and the support of our shareholder partners were crucial in making this achievement possible.”
Qatargas operates seven LNG trains, with a combined production capacity of 42 million tonnes per annum (MTA) of LNG. Four of these are among the largest in the world, with a production capacity of 7.8 MTA each.
Laffan Refinery, one of the largest condensate refineries in the world with a refining capacity of 146,000 barrels per day, is also operated by Qatargas. Qatargas’ Ras Laffan Terminal Operations team operates all the non-LNG products tank farms and related marine terminals at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar.
This achievement is all the more significant because it has been reached during a period when three major projects, the Jetty Boil-off Gas project, the Plateau Maintenance Project and Laffan Refinery 2 are being executed by Qatargas.
