Doha: The Embassy of Pakistan in Doha yesterday organised ‘Kashmir Black Day’ to commemorate 72 years long history of the landing of Indian occupying forces and to highlight the illegal occupation and continuous human rights violations in Jammu & Kashmir.

The event was attended by members of Pakistani community including Kashmiris. The participants observed one-minute silence in the memory of martyrs and heroes of Kashmir’s freedom movement. M

essages of President and Prime Minister were also readout during the event, said a statement issued by the Embassy.

The speakers highlighted the ongoing oppression of Kashmiri people at the hands of Indian forces and imposition of electronic and social media blackout in Kashmir. They rejected the Indian manoeuvres to project Jammu and Kashmir as its ‘internal affair’ and pointed out that United Nations Security Council Resolutions clearly indicate that the fate of Kashmiri people can only be decided by them through a plebiscite.

The Charge d’Affaires, Masood Gul, in his concluding remarks stated that October 27 marks the Blackest Day in the history of Kashmir when Indian occupation forces landed in Srinagar to occupy and oppress the innocent people of Indian occupied Kashmir. He said that the people and Government of Pakistan have always stood by their Kashmiri brethren in their struggle for freedom.

He highlighted that the recent unilateral illegal acts by the occupation forces have been followed by a complete shutdown and curfew in the region for the past three months. He urged upon the international community to show greater resolve in taking notice of the sufferings of the nine million Kashmiri people.
