Fish prices see significant drop in local market

DOHA: Fish prices have declined significantly in the local market.
The all-time expensive hamour, the favourite of citizens, sold at QR25 per kg on Tuesday at Central Market, according to a weekly report.
The report was issued by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and highlighted the prices of fruits, vegetables and fish in the Central Market during the week ending on January 27.
Hamour prices have fallen from QR45 per kg by the end of last month to QR25 by the end of this month, the report said.
Almost all local fish witnessed steep fall in the prices between last December 27 and this January 27, said the report.  
The prices of shari dropped from QR12 to QR10 per kg, balul from QR45 to QR28, rabib from QR45 to QR30, farash from QR10 to QR5, jash from QR22 to QR15, faskar from QR12 to QR8, badah from QR25 to QR20, kanad from QR40 to QR25 and safi from QR35 to QR20.
The prices of almost all vegetables are stable except kusa, which has witnessed an increase.
In the Central Market on Tuesday, Jordanian tomatoes were sold at QR3 per kg, Qatari cucumber at QR3.5, Jordanian kusa at QR6, Saudi carrot at QR2.5, Australian carrot at QR5, Jordanian lettuce at QR3.5, Saudi beans at QR8 and Indian onion at QR3.
The prices of fruits were also stable. US apples cost QR6.5, Chinese apple QR5, African orange QR4, Philippine banana QR5, Philippine pineapple QR6 and Egyptian lemon QR6.
