DOHA: Qatar Charity has started a campaign this Ramadan urging people here to help orphans abroad.
‘All they have’ asks people in Qatar to sponsor orphans’ education in 25 countries, help such children in 16 poor countries by different means and give food and water to the needy in Syria, Yemen, Tunisia and Niger.
To donate for the campaign, one has to send a SMS on Ooredoo to 92632 to donate QAR50, to 92642 to donate QAR100, to 92642 to donate QAR500 and to 92429 to donate QAR100.
The sender should add ‘orphan’ to support a child or a project to help children.
‘Rofaqae’ is another programme of Qatar Charity under way to help orphans all over the world. Citizens and expats can sponsor a child’s education in more than 25 countries and support plans to provide orphans food, water, housing and healthcare.
A total of 12,041 children have been sponsored under Rofaqa, which includes activities for development of children and orphans of all ages, helping them to live safe and with independence.
“You can select a child from photos. You can also send gifts, talk to the child and meet him,” said a Qatar Charity official.
One willing to sponsor a child can donate QR150 to QR500 per month. A form has to be completed asking the bank to transfer the amount every month to Qatar Charity, select the number of children one wishes to help and the country where they live.
The sponsorship of a child can also be done over the website of Rofaqae.
One can sponsor a child’s education in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Indonesia, India’s Kashmir, Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Niger, Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Togo, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Chad, Burkina Faso, Bosnia, Albania and Kosovo.
To help orphans in several countries, donations can be made to Qatar Charity/Rofaqae in their Barwa Bank account number QA69BARWA000000000.
One can also donate by sending a SMS on Ooredoo to 92060 as ‘’R1’’ > 92060 for QR100, ‘’R2’’ >92060 for QR200, ‘’R3’’ > 92060 for QR300 and ‘’R5’’ > 92060 for QR500. This money will be used for projects for orphans abroad.
