DOHA: Qatar University’s College of Education (CED) is set to get a separate building for its Training Center for Early Childhood Teachers (TCECT).
A stone-laying ceremony for TCECT was held on Thursday under the patronage of
Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada.
The TCECT project was launched in 2007 and is part of the college’s Early Childhood Center (ECC).
It will enhance the quality of academic programmes offered by the college, develop related research, and is set to become a regional model for early childhood training. When completed, the new centre will also offer training courses and workshops and educational and psychological counseling to parents.
The ceremony was attended by Qatar University President Prof Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad, LNG Japan President and CEO Yasunori Takagi, RasGas Chief Executive Officer Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, CED Dean Dr Hissa Sadiq, CED faculty and ECC members.
Speaking on behalf of Al Sada,
Al Mohannadi thanked LNG Japan for its generous contribution and said education is always at the forefront of Qatar’s efforts on all levels of human and socio-economic development.
He said that the centre constitutes another building block in Qatar’s long-term social and human development by impacting the lives of a new generation of Qataris who will be the driving power behind realising the country’s national vision and building the foundations for future growth and prosperity.
