QC briefed on investment opportunities in Port City Colombo, Sri Lanka

Doha, Qatar: First Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber (QC), Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari received a delegation from the Port City Colombo Economic Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, headed by Harsha Amarasekera, Chairman of the Commission.

Also attending the session were Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidli, QC Board Member, and H E Roshan Sithara Khan Azard, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries, strengthen trade and economic relations, and increase bilateral trade.

Discussions also focused on introducing high-value investment opportunities available to Qatari investors. Members of the Sri Lankan delegation presented an overview of the project, highlighting key investment incentives, tax exemptions, regulatory frameworks, and recent project developments.

For his part, Mohamed bin Twar said that Qatar Chamber is keen to foster communication between the Qatari and Sri Lankan business communities. He noted that Port City Colombo offers a diverse range of investment opportunities and could serve as an important gateway for Qatari investor seeking to expand into the Sri Lankan market.

He added that the Chamber urges Qatari investors to explore the opportunities available in the City and consider establishing joint ventures with Sri Lankan counterparts across sectors of mutual interest.

The zone offers investment opportunities across financial services, information technology, professional services, shipping and logistics, tourism and hospitality, and regional headquarters.
