Qatar Red Crescent takes part in SEC events to promote healthy lifestyle

DOHA: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) took part in several events organised by Supreme Education Council (SEC) and conducted lectures and training courses for schools, banks, companies and institutions.
A total of  1,255 people attended the lectures and courses.
QRC’s Medical Affairs Department took part in the cultural and educational week organised by Omar Ibn Al Khattab Independent Secondary School for Boys under the theme ‘Biggest Wealth’ to fight smoking and tobacco-chewing and highlight their dangers. 
It also participated in a three-day safety and security exhibition organised by Abo Hanifa Independent Model School for Boys under the theme ‘Together for a Better Health’ which attracted about 150 participants.  In both events, QRC had a pavilion to receive students, teachers and staff to highlight its role in society, train them in first aid, distribute health education handouts and recruit volunteers, especially  for the Disaster Management Camp to be held in April.
It also delivered a lecture on its first aid programme and its importance for lifesaving, encouraged healthy lifestyle, distributed gifts to students and networked with representatives of participating organisations.
Under the School Programme, QRC organised seven lectures on healthy food, personal hygiene and first aid. The lectures were attended by about 500 students, teachers and parents at Al Andalus Independent Primary School for Boys, Al Aqsa Preparatory School for Girls, Al Andalus Preparatory and Secondary Private Schools for Boys, Zubaida Secondary School for Girls and Al Khansaa Independent Primary School for Girls.
QRC held first aid courses for firms and institutions, attended by some 305 people. Eleven courses in Arabic and English were also held for 175 employees of Qatar National Bank. The trainees learned the basics of  first aid, surface water rescue and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, how to deal with cases of suffocation, bleeding, injury, fracture, burn, epilepsy, poisoning and heat exhaustion; and techniques of moving the injured to hospital.
