Dar Es Salaam: The Tanzanian government on Friday announced a two-billion-Tanzanian-shilling (about 776,788 US dollars) fund to support digital content creators nationwide, part of its strategy to bolster the country's creative economy.
Speaking in the capital, Dodoma, Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Paul Makonda said the initiative aims to help creators improve the quality of their work and generate sustainable income through digital platforms.
The government-backed fund will cater to creators across various sectors, including tourism, sports, media, social development, music, and film, Makonda said.
The minister added that the move reflects the government's recognition of the digital and creative industries' growing role in job creation, innovation, and economic growth.
Registration for eligible applicants is open from Friday to February 15, according to Makonda.
