Old-age aid for 465,837 workers

KARACHI: The Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) of Pakistan collected Rs80bn ($808m) over the last 30 years and disbursed Rs65.8bn among workers.

A senior EOBI officer claimed that the institution invested funds efficiently over the years and “raked in good dividends.”

According to official figures, the EOBI, since its inception in 1983 up to March 2013, has benefited around 465,837 workers across the country. About 298,587 workers benefited from the scheme due to old age, 7,780 workers due to invalidity, 136,529 were given survivors’ pension and 465,837 were given old-age grant.
