Doha: The Coasts and Borders Security Department yesterday commissioned 20 sophisticated boats in the eastern area of Ras Abu Aboud.
Brigadier Ali Ahmed Al Badeed said the commissioning comes within the framework of a development and modernisation plan and works carried out by the department at various levels to fulfil tasks the department is entrusted with to the best.
In a statement, he said the boats the department had received recently underwent a trial operation and were endorsed to enter the service after proving their efficiency.
He said the boats are equipped with suitable engines and all devices and capabilities required for coastal patrolling, and search, rescue and assistance at sea.
He said the boats are part of the department’s plan to provide more sophisticated boats in line with the volume of work it carries out.
He said the boats will be deployed in various areas guarded by the department.
Doha: Qatar Airways (QA) yesterday announced that it will provide Iftar meal boxes to its fasting passengers during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The meals, which can be chosen instead of the food and beverage service on intra-Gulf QA flights, allow passengers to break fast with a fresh and healthy choice of food and beverage.
This year, the boxes come in a uniquely designed and easy to carry bag to enable those breaking fast to carry them as easily as possible after they leave the aircraft.
Contents have been selected to allow passengers to have a fresh meal at whatever time they choose to eat and include bottled water, Arabic sweets, a vegetarian and non-vegetarian sandwich wrap, healthy snacks, a banana and a yoghurt drink.
“QA is renowned around the world for its five-star service and hospitality.
“During the holy month, it is important that we recognise and provide for those passengers who may be fasting and who choose not to eat at the times we provide our typical food and beverage service.
“These boxes ensure that all of our passengers have a conveniently parcelled meal to enable them to break fast at their convenience, whether on board one of our flights or later during their onward journey,” said a spokesperson.
