Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic of the Ministry of Interior, has announced a significant enhancement to the vehicle ownership transfer system, now available through the Metrash mobile application.
This update makes the process faster, more secure, and user-friendly.
With the latest upgrade, vehicle ownership can now be transferred seamlessly via the Metrash app, provided the vehicle has a valid registration and there are no outstanding traffic violations.
The system now incorporates a critical verification step, requiring the buyer’s confirmation before finalizing the transaction — adding an extra layer of transparency and control for both parties.
To initiate a vehicle ownership transfer, users should begin by opening the Metrash app and navigating to the Traffic Services section on the home page.
After that, they need to select the Vehicles option and then choose Ownership Transfer.
Once selected, users must enter the required information and submit the sale request.
The buyer will then receive a notification and must approve the transfer through their own Metrash app.
After the buyer gives approval, the seller can proceed to pay the applicable service fee to complete the transaction.
Officials emphasized that this digital service eliminates paperwork, reduces the need for in-person visits, and streamlines the entire procedure — in line with Qatar’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at enhancing public services and improving the user experience.
Developed by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, Metrash is a comprehensive mobile platform that offers a wide range of electronic services to citizens and residents.
The newly upgraded app replaces the previous version, Metrash2, and features a modern interface, biometric login, and faster response times.
Among its many features, Metrash serves as a unified service platform, consolidating various Ministry of Interior services into one convenient application.
It allows users to manage their profile information, including Qatar ID, residency status, and active services.
Citizens and residents can also pre-register for travel through the Abu Samra border crossing using the app.
Additionally, users can update their passport details and report lost items online.
Metrash enables users to anonymously report crimes and suspicious activities.
It provides access to National Address Certificates for both individuals and establishments and offers digital copies of permanent residence cards and establishment registration documents.
The application also supports multiple languages, including Arabic, English, French, Malayalam, Urdu, and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for a diverse population.
It allows for the automatic renewal of residence permits and includes a direct debit service, making it easier to pay for various government services securely and efficiently.
