MUSCAT: Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co (ORPIC) said on Wednesday it was preparing to restart its 116,000 barrel per day Sohar oil refinery, after shutting it on Monday because of technical issues.

“ORPIC’s Sohar Refinery underwent a safe shut-down recently.  The Sohar Refinery is currently under preparation for start-up,” the company said via its official Twitter account.

It added that the feed cut-in for the residue fluid catalytic cracking process was expected to occur on Thursday morning.

“During this period, there might be high flaring for some time til all units are stabilised. We will keep you updated on more news,” ORPIC said.
