Newly opened underpasses on the Salwa Road. The project comprises about seven kilometres of dual carriageway.

DOHA: All the new underpasses on the Salwa Road on both sides of the highway are now open immensely contributing to the free flow of traffic.

The underpasses from the Al Asiri flyover to the Industrial Area direction were opened for traffic last week, while the subways in the opposite direction were opened on Friday. Two lanes each on both sides of the four-lane highway are now open, with work progressing on the other two lanes and the service roads.

Commuters travelling to and from Industrial Area and Faleh Bin Nasser interchanges can now bypass all traffic signals and enjoy easy access to the city and towards Abu Samrah. Diverting traffic to the underpass will facilitate works on the main road and service roads , without affecting traffic, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) had said earlier.

The Salwa road project comprises about seven kilometres of dual carriageway. The main line will feature eight lanes, four lanes in each direction separated by a median with continuous service roads, as well as four two-level interchanges. Providing a strategic corridor between Doha and the Saudi Arabian border, the Salwa Road project is an integral part of Ashghal’s Expressway Programme. The Peninsula
