Doha: The first Qatar Workers Football Cup, which kicked off at Al Rayyan Stadium on Friday, has received overwhelming response as it demonstrated how companies and their employees can work together to improve overall health and wellbeing through participation in sport.
The Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee in cooperation with the Qatar Stars League are partnering with QSports Leagues to organise the tournament, which will continue till April 13.
“We are continuing to use football as a tool to improve people’s lives across every segment of society,” said Saud Al Attiyah, Legacy Director for the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee. “This tournament is a pilot programme that shows the power of football to improve individual livelihoods. We hope companies encourage their workers to practice and play internal matches in order to have even more competitive teams for next year’s edition.” The Peninsula
