Doha: In addition to its outstanding achievements and awards, the Ministry of Interior was honoured with a gold medal in the 13th Gulf Radio and TV festival in Manama, that concluded on March 27.
The visual work ‘Together to Counter-Hacking’, directed by the Public Relations Department clinched the medal for the ministry.
It was for the first time the department took part in the festival representing the ministry.
The festival organised contests in five levels related to TV and radio special programmes and productions. The ministry  participated in the level of Modern Media in Arab countries and the Middle East.
The visual programme was directed to make people aware of hackers on the Internet who try to scam confidential information and bank details.
It was visualised well to highlight techniques of trap and cheating online, depicting parts based on technical elements that suggest caution of theft of electronic information and highlight global transformation of the concept of trade from traditional to e-Trading.
The visual dramatises one person purchasing goods online through a website and paying through bank cards while on the other side the hacker could steal the contents and save the data and all information with which he could steal money from the person’s accounts and cards.
Col. Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of the Department, expressed pleasure on winning the medal.
He said the ministry was  delighted as it clinched the gold medal in the very first participation in the event.
He said the ministry is also proud to highlight the positive approach to enroot security awareness through all possible media across Gulf countries.
He stressed that the win would be a motive for the ministry to take part in more festivals concerned with community-related issues.
The festival has grown into a leading event in the Gulf with the participation of major countries.
A total of  315 works were specified for competition for one prize in each category except for drama work for which two prizes were allocated.
