2022: Qatar facing media defamation campaign

Doha: Qatar is facing continuous media defamation campaign since it was awarded the 2022 Football World Cup, said Dr Yousuf Ubaidan, Vice-Chairman, National Committee for Human Rights. 
He said it was a false campaign to damage Qatar’s successes. He was speaking during an Open Day organised on Thursday by Legal Studies and Judiciary Centre at the Ministry of Justice.
Dr Ubaidan said under the leadership of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar will tackle challenges and achieve its goal to become a developed state. 
Mohamed Rashid Al Shahwani Al Hajri, Director,  Training Section at the centre, said they organised Open Day to enable trainees at the centre to gain knowledge, share experiences with legal experts and judiciary persons and improve research skills.
He said training was conducted by specialists and experts from the ministry and other countries. Participants said they benefitted from training and knowledge and experience gained were equal to multi-year education in colleges. 
Training included theoretical and practical session, field trips and visits to prisons and mortuaries to allow participants to investigate cases. 
Al Hajri said the centre has four compulsory courses and special courses in law and judiciary.
