GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories: A high-level Bahraini delegation will arrive in Gaza tomorrow to open two UNRWA schools, the enclave’s Hamas rulers said yesterday, denying it would be led by one of the princes. “A high-level Bahraini delegation will visit Gaza on Thursday headed by Mustafa Al-Sayyed, Secretary General of the Bahraini Royal Charity Organisation (RCO),” said a terse statement issued by Taher Al Nunu, spokesman for the Gaza government.
No Iran link to military factory: Sudan

KHARTOUM, Sudan: Sudan says that Iran has no link to the military factory that it says was hit in an Israeli airstrike.

Israel has not confirmed or denied involvement in last week’s explosion at the factory, which destroyed much of the complex and killed four people in the Sudanese capital. But Israeli officials have claimed that Sudan is playing a key role in an Iranian-backed network of arms shipments to hostile Arab militant groups.

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry accused Israel of leaking “misleading information” about Iranian support for weapons production at the Yarmouk factory.
Mursi orders sexual harassment probe

CAIRO: Egypt’s president acknowledged the widespread problem of sexual harassment in his country yesterday, ordering his interior minister to investigate a rash of assaults during the Eid Al Adha holiday.

Mohammed Mursi acted after his government reported 735 police complaints about sexual harassment over the four-day Eid al-Adha holiday, which ended on Monday. Mursi stressed the need to fight “all phenomena of moral chaos and abuses, especially harassment in Egyptian streets,” spokesman Yasser Ali said in a statement.

The holiday features celebrations, crowded public squares — and widespread harassment of women by men.

Rights activists have faulted Mursi’s Islamist government for failing to take action against the wave of sexual assaults. His order yesterday appeared to be an attempt to counter that charge. AGENCIES
