DOHA: The Indian embassy has registered 277 deaths of its nationals this year, with 32 deaths in December.
It said 241 deaths were registered in 2013 and 237 in 2012.
This year the Labour and Community Welfare Section received 3,852 complaints compared  to 3,558 in 2013.
An embassy team visited the Central Prison and Annex and Deportation Centre during the week to enquire about the welfare of Indian detainees.
The number of Indians in the prison and the centre is 87 and 124, respectively.
Based on requests from Qatari authorities for travel documents for inmates at the centre, the embassy issued 12 emergency certificates in December.
It also issued four air tickets to Indians in distress to return home this month.
Indian Community Benevolent Forum continues to help workers through welfare measures, including air tickets, financial assistance and medical help.
